Somehow this day was meant to be slower, due to the rain outside. I did my routine indoor exercises, some Sun Salutations, power exercises for my lower end πŸ™‚ and stretches. And I did much more inside the house, so I started to wonder:

Is cleaning up an exercise?

I did some research and here are the most interesting activities with average calories burnt in one hour. I was checking it out for my age, height and weight …

  • vacuuming – 179 cal
  • sweeping – 179 calVacuuming
  • easy household works – 150 cal
  • walking the dog – 150 cal
  • cooking – 150 cal
  • driving – 120 cal
  • easy garden works – 120 cal
  • harder garden works – 239 cal
  • car washing – 179 cal
  • shopping – 150 cal
  • carrying 11 to 22 kg objects (like my babies πŸ™‚ ) – 299 cal

OK, this is only an illustration – I could add some more, if anyone wishes! πŸ™‚

And my day?

If I only calculate cooking, easy household works and carrying my kids, I’ve already burnt 600 calories. Sometimes I even combine vacuuming and carrying a load of 9 kilos, after one baby is done riding the vacuum cleaner …

And that yesterday’s cake doesn’t look so terrible any more. πŸ˜‰ If the things only were so easy, you would say… I agree… πŸ™‚
